MUSIC: It’s a big, big night for DCist Three Stars alums! First up, Three Stars alums The Caribbean are at the Black Cat’s backstage, along with DCist Unbuckled alums Olivia Mancini and The Housemates. Headlining the bill are the increasingly interesting Impossible Hair, a D.C./Baltimore group we dug when they played the Red and The Black last summer, and who are celebrating the release of their new record, What is the Secret of Impossible Hair. Find out at 9 p.m. Tickets only $8.
JAZZ: Three Stars alums The Oscillators, led by drummer/composer Charles Ostle, performs on Thursday night at Twins Jazz. The band includes Three Stars alums John Lee and Matt Rippetoe. 8 p.m. Call 202-432-0072 for cover information.
MUSIC: New Orleans-bred singer Teedra Moses broke onto the R&B scene several years back with the help of D.C.’s own Raphael Saadiq. She’s at Bohemian Caverns tonight, with support from Three Stars and Unbuckled alumna Muhsinah. $18 in advance, 9 p.m.
ART: Also, don’t forget to join DCist at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Phillips After 5, as we launch the start of the Make Your Own Morandi contest. Apartment Zero owner Douglas Burton will deliver a talk on sustainability in design. Admission to the Phillips Collection is $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
DJ: Our friends at Civilian Art Projects are hosting a “fun” raiser tonight at Local 16, complete with six top local DJs spinning on the roof while you enjoy work by Civilian artists Robin Bell, Luke Wyatt and Kate MacDonnell. DJs Neville C., Nitecrawler, KC, and Secret Chimp will be among those providing the tunes. Your $10 cover goes toward Civilian and all the wonderful events they bring to the city, including 2008’s DCist Exposed. 6:30-11 p.m.
