Mayor Adrian Fenty’s recent secretive travels have made finding out where he is something of a game amongst local journalists. This week WTOP’s Mark Segraves takes the prize for hunting Fenty down at National airport as he set off to New York for the weekend. And though he claims to be headed north on “official business,” Fenty declined to specify what that business was. Segraves got the whole thing on video, and awkward camera work aside, it’s worth watching. Fenty’s caginess on his travel schedule is apparent, and his advisers would do well in convincing him that it doesn’t make him look like the new, open and progressive mayor he campaigned as.

UMd Cancels Only Thing That Would Have Taken Us to College Park: We kid, College Park’s a neat place. But seriously, the Post hilariously reports that the University of Maryland yesterday canceled a showing of a XXX movie in its student union after legislators threatened to pull the university’s state funds. Organizers at the student-run Hoff Theater claimed that their decision to run “Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge” was mostly for fun and as an end-of-the-semester stress reliever; apparently this wouldn’t be the first time dirty movies were put on in the 550-seat theater. Debate in Annapolis occurred haltingly as elementary school groups filtered in to watch the State Senate in action, but the amendment to pull the university’s funding for next year was tabled when administrators decided to cancel the movie.

Virginia Dems Peeved About NoVA Snub: During last year’s presidential campaign, Republicans famously and repeatedly lambasted Northern Virginia, with John McCain’s brother calling it “communist country” and McCain adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer claiming it was all just D.C. transplants. Well, things don’t seem to have changed. NBC 4 reports that former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee apparently had some words for NoVA at a rally for Republican gubernatorial candidate Robert McDonnell last weekend. They’ve got all the details and the video.

Upgrades Coming to Nationals Park: After a rocky first year at the new baseball stadium, a new day seems to have come for the owners of the Washington Nationals. Not only did they pay their rent on time, but the D.C. Examiner reports on a number of upgrades they are making to the stadium. This year fans will see a new food vendor, better beer, new signage, an expanded Red Porch restaurant and new picnic tables installed on various levels.

Briefly Noted: Maryland legislators were against traffic cameras before they were for them … Judge sides with PG County strip clubs … If you’re reading this now, you already missed Filene’s annual stampede, also known as the “Running of the Brides” wedding dress sale.

This Day in DCist: On this day in 2008, we reported on the love/hate relationship between Union Station and photographers and we re-visited the Jefferson Memorial. In 2007, we defended the sexual honor of our pandas and saw the D.C. Council give their first blessing to what has become Mayor Adrian Fenty’s takeover of the city’s schools.
