TALK: Astronomy and environmental science nerds will want to be at the Koshland Science Museum tonight for a lecture titled, Picturing the Impact of Climate Change from 6:30 to 8 p.m. NASA scientist Gavin Schmidt and photographer Joshua Wolfe will “demonstrate how photographs can illustrate the effects of global warming more poignantly than any temperature graph or chart.” Free.
MUSIC: Local legend Bob Mould is set to perform a special acoustic set at the Birchmere tonight, with special guest Juliana Hatfield. Tickets are still available for $25, doors at 7:30 p.m.
MOVIE: John Hillcoat’s underappreciated 2006 Aussie western, The Proposition screens tonight at 9 p.m. at the AFI Silver. With a script and soundtrack both by Nick Cave and starring edgy indie darlings Guy Pearce and Emily Watson, if you missed this one, it’s well worth the trip to Silver Spring to catch it tonight.
JAZZ: f you’ve yet to catch Afro Blue, Howard University’s vocal jazz ensemble, then you’re missing out on a real treat. The group performs tonight at Blues Alley. Tickets to the 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
