ART: How would we not make our top pick an art opening featuring three of our contributors and hosted by our very own Managing and Arts Editor? Heather Goss’ Ten Miles Square presents I’m with the Band, featuring concert photography by Kyle Gustafson, Martin Locraft and Nestor Diaz, tonight at Dahlak. Opening reception 6 to 8 p.m., $5 suggestion donation.
MUSIC: The always bizarre Robyn Hitchcock is back, this time with an all-star backing band, the Venus 3 (Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey, and Bill Rieflin). Folk-singer Jennifer O’Connor opens the show at the Black Cat. Tickets are still available for $20, doors at 8 p.m.
JAZZ: Check out our full preview of tonight’s show at the Barns of Wolf Trap, featuring jazz Guitarist Bill Frisell leading his own eclectic trio. 8 p.m., $25.

TALK: The Air and Space Museum’s Exploring Space lecture series continues this week with a 7:30 p.m. lecture by Vera Rubin titled What IS the Universe?. Rubin is considered an expert of galaxy velocity, and “is credited with proving the existence of dark matter.” A screening of 400 Years of the Telescope + Discovery Stations in the Museum will precede the lecture at 6 p.m.
