You got two full weekends off thanks to the tourists, but now Metro has to start doing its regular weekend track maintenance routine again. WMATA sent out a reminder today that service on the Red and Orange lines will be affected by track work this weekend.

Red Line: Switch replacement work will go on through the Brentwood rail yards this weekend, causing 30 minute delays while trains single track between the Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood stations. The work begins at 10 p.m. on Friday, April 17 and lasts through to midnight on Sunday, April 19. In order to keep things moving, every other Red Line train in the direction of Glenmont will also terminate at Judiciary Square and return to Shady Grove between 7 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Orange Line: Metro will replace crossties between Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA, creating 30 minute delays while trains single track between the two stations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Every other Orange Line train in the direction of Vienna/Fairfax-GMU will terminate at West Falls Church-VT/UVA and return to New Carrollton on Saturday.
