Just in case you were too scared by the prospect of rain — our sources (and our ability to read a radar screen) tell us that it began to drizzle on the Mall about half an hour ago — here’s what you’ve missed at today’s Green Apple Festival so far:

>> The Flaming Lips decided to open their set at an Earth Day celebration by raining down plastic and paper on the people. Take that, environmental activists! Such rockers don’t need to follow your rules. They also brought their big plastic bubble. I’m told that this is significant.

>> Most fans of the jam band moe. are neo-hippies; hence, according to a friend who is attending, pot brownies were readily available. I can’t bring a six-pack to a softball game on the Mall in the middle of summer, but some joker can get away with this? Damn it, Park Police, that is absurd.

>> Chevy Chase has allergies. To his jokes, perhaps. (Zing.)

Also, for those at home thinking about heading into downtown for whatever reason, Metro is likely going to be absolutely packed in about an hour. For those of you interested in checking the concert out from the comfort of your couch, the concert is streaming live here.
