>> It’s Tuesday, so that means it’s “Vs.” time. This week’s battle at Almaz (1212 U Street NW) pits D’Angelo against Musiq Soulchild. Selecting the tunes will be DJ 2-Tone Jones and DJ Stylus. $5, 9 p.m.

Thursday:
>> The Blackbyrds were one of the leading funk-jazz groups of the 1970s. Born out of Howard’s School of Music, they made “Rock Creek Park” more than a place in Northwest. They’ll be at Blues Alley for two shows. $25+$12.50 minimum, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

>> Luminary Afrika Bambaataa will be in town at Current for a DJ set sure to cover his electronic and hip-hop music background. $10, 9 p.m.

Friday:
>> Richmond, Va.’s Skillz has been making music since the mid-1990s and might’ve even authored some of your favorite artist’s rhymes, as he proclaimed in his track, “Ghostwriter.” He’ll be at Almaz (1212 U Street NW). $10, 9 p.m.

>> “Moneytown” is back at Dahlak (1771 U Street NW) with DJs Nitekrawler and guest Midnite Cowboy for a night of rare soul. Free, 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> Melding the party scenes of New York and Atlanta, “Sol Fusion vs. Freedom Party” will bring five DJs from both towns that will play a varitey of music ranging from Nirvana to Frankie Knuckles at Liv. $15, 9 p.m.

>> The monthly “Kids” party comes back to DC9 and will feature DJs Lil’ El, Nacey, Steve Starks, and Jackie O spinning hip-hop hits from the 1990s. Free before 10 p.m./$5 after 10 p.m., 9 p.m.
