>> Don’t miss our film picks of the week, including a special screening of 1968’s Teorema the AFI, plus the Brazilian Embassy‘s annual film festival, Reel Time Brazil.

>> Excellent hip-hop outfit Diamond District released their album, In The Ruff, for free on their blog last month, and tonight they’ll be performing as a part of Inner Loop Records’ “Beatdown: Diamond District Edition” at Almaz. $10, 9 p.m.

>> Janelle Gill is an incredibly talented local jazz pianist who will be leading her own quartet this Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. The 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets will also feature up-and-coming vocalist Akua Kyerematin. Tickets are $15.

>> Southern Culture on the Skids bring their gonzo take on alt-country to the 9:30 Club, with Los Straightjackets opening. 8 p.m. doors, $20.

SATURDAY:

>> Couple of arts celebrations in Prince George’s County. There’s the Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival, which includes 12×12, a group exhibit opening at the Lustine Center (featuring work by DCist contributor Lynne Venart); plus the the Mount Rainier Day Festival takes place on the Municipal Plaza on Rhode Island Ave. The Gateway Arts District will also host open studio tours of over 100 artists. The self guided tour will showcase artists throughout the four municipalities of Mount Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood and Hyattsville. 12 to 5 p.m. Free shuttle bus service from West Hyattsville metro.

>> Hip Hop Cinema Cafe returns with the film Deep Crates, which examines the hobby and livelihood of hip-hop enthusiasts and producers who obsess over finding the samples used to make their favorite songs. The film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring local beat makers. Everything will go down at the Historical Society of Washington, D.C.. Free, 2 p.m.

>> The flute sections of the National Symphony Orchestra and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra will come together for a free concert of music for flutes, at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church. A donation will be collected by the Flute Society of Washington to support a scholarship fund. Free, 2:30 p.m.

>> The fourth annual Paint the Town Pink, benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, is tonight at the Laughing Man Tavern. Tickets are $50, and get you access to an impressively long open bar (8 p.m.-2 a.m.), plus a silent auction and tunes from DJ Tanner.

>> If you had fun biking to work on Friday, head over to the Black Cat tonight for the Bike Prom, WABA’s Bike to Work Day celebration party offering DJs, dancing, prizes and free prom-style photos. $10, 9 p.m.

>> Minneapolis rappers Atmosphere will be at the 9:30 Club with Brother Ali and Attracted to Gods. $25, 7 p.m.

>> BrightestYoungThings.com and the Embassy of Sweden are teaming up for the latest House of Sweden After Dark, dubbed a “Green Masquerade Ball.” The event will feature art installations by Kelly Towles, DJs Gavin Holland, Cale, and Rehee & Shred, and partygoers are asked to wear a “green” mask or costume, with the winner of a costume contest to get a prize supplied by Nudie Jeans. 21+, $20 gets you in plus one drink ticket. Drink specials include $5 Flying Dog Ale.

>> Local heroes and Unbuckled vets Middle Distance Runner are at the Rock and Roll Hotel. With Boston’s Pretty & Nice, homeboys Loose Lips, and the Illadelph’s Drink Up, Buttercup. 9 p.m., $10.

SUNDAY:

>> Eat your way through the Taste of Wheaton or Taste of Arlington. Both festivals will feature live music, kids activities, and samples from local restaurants. This year, Taste of Wheaton will also be rolling out an Ethnic Food and Wine Tasting Pavilion, featuring dishes by our favorite Top Chef-testant, Carla Hall. Tickets for the pavillion are $15 for a flight of wine and samples. Tickets for Taste of Arlington are $25 for eight tastings, with proceeds benefitting Community Residences.

>> Today at 11 a.m. is your chance to tell the Nats just how you feel about their season, and give Stan Kasten, Manny Acta and Mike Rizzo some last minute advice before their 1:35 p.m. game against the Phillies. It’ll cost you $120 (or $85 for Smithsonian members), but you’ll also get a ticket to the game and a buffet of what sounds like ballpark food. The event will take place in the conference center at the mezzanine level.

>> Electro-wizard Dan Deacon headlines the 9:30 Club. With Future Islands and Teeth Mountain. 8 p.m. doors, $12.
