Purple St. James, (pictured) has made a name for herself singing with the likes of The Foreign Exchange and Little Brother, not to mention releasing her own material. She’ll be performing two shows at Blues Alley. $20 plus $2.50 per person and $10 purchase minimum per person, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Thursday:
>> With a title like “James Brown vs. Stevie Wonder,” there’s little to be left to the imagination. Eight DJs will be spinning the tunes of two of the 20th Century’s most important artists at Liv. $10, 9 p.m.
Sunday:
>> There’s no work on Monday for a lot of people, so why not celebrate with three of the biggest stars from the 1980s? DJ Dredd‘s “Prince vs. Madonna vs. MJ (Michael Jackson)” returns for a Memorial Day edition at the Black Cat. $13, 9 p.m.
Monday:
Yeah, it’s not in D.C. but it’s Memorial Day and it’s Wale. He’ll be performing at Sonar with U.C.B. $10-$15, 9 p.m.
