There must be a lot of angry D.C.-area commuters working as video game developers these days. In last year’s Fallout 3, Bethesda Softworks turned the greater D.C. area into a wasteland, reducing a transit system closely resembling Metro to a series of ghoul-infested tunnels. Now Sega is releasing The Conduit (hat tip to unsuckdcmetro), in which Metro is reduced to a series of alien-infested tunnels. Nothing says system-wide delay like a raygun shoot-out at Metro Center.

Here’s the description for this Wii exclusive: After a full-scale alien attack on Washington D.C., suspicions arise as to the involvement of the U.S. government. Armed with sci-fi gadgets and high-powered weapons, players will battle aliens, rouge[sic] agents and enemy forces as a former secret service agent codenamed “Mr. Ford.” Let’s hope Metro remembered to keep its spare ammunition crates, health packs and exploding barrels randomly scattered around the stations.

Here’s the trailer that premiered recently at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3):

Sega says the game will be released this summer, but we’re guessing Metro, which is notoriously stingy with its trademarked logo, might have something to say about some of the art seen in the trailer before then.

Not to be outdone, Bethesda Softworks recently announced a new expansion to Fallout 3 titled “Mothership Zeta,” that involves an alien abduction. Enough already, we say! The people of our city do not need additional reminders that Washington is a prime target for alien, robot or super mutant invasions.
