MUSIC: It’ll be all about D.C. chillin’ and PG chillin’ tonight at the 9:30 Club, when arguably the city’s biggest rising star, Wale, is back home for a Rock the Vote sponsored show with UCB. Local emcees X.O. and Tabi Bonney round out the bill, among others. Tickets are still available for $25. Doors at 7 p.m.

POETRY: The Arts Club of Washington hosts an evening of poetry tonight starting at 7 p.m., with award-winning poets Jessica Garratt and Lisa Russ Spaar, who will discuss the work of Emily Dickinson as well as read some original works. 2017 I Street NW. Free.

DJ: The Rock and Roll Hotel tonight hosts the Semi-Annual Vinyl Classics Fundraiser, featuring over 20 DJs, each playing about three songs in vinyl only sets. There will also be an art raffle during the event. $5 suggested donation at the door, with proceeds from the raffle and part of the bar sales going to Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, a newly formed all foster, all volunteer animal rescue outfit. Things get started at 9 p.m.

MUSIC: Toronto’s Rock Plaza Central will bring their Neutral Milk Hotel-inspired sounds to the Black Cat Backstage tonight, with The Suckers opening. $10, 9 p.m.
