Fort Reno really let it get down to the wire before announcing the start of its season this year. The unveiling of the schedule is a time-honored tradition, and everybody knows that the free concert series on Monday and Thursday nights in Fort Reno park marks the official start to a good D.C. summer. So it is with great anticipation that we’ve kept an eye on fortreno.com these past several weeks, to no avail. As it turns out, the site has had some technical bugs, so organizers Amanda MacKaye & co. have been using their Facebook group to relay the lineups for the first two shows. And lucky for us, we don’t have to wait long — the series kicks off next Monday night, June 22.

The inaugural show will feature Three Stars alums Pash, whose lead singer’s voice we described as luminous and tenacious. Along for the lineup are Funk Ark, the band led by fellow-Three Stars alum Will Rast, and The Sweater Set, a group we’ve never seen live but judging by the few tracks they’ve got up online, are a vocally-driven folk duet.

Next Thursday’s show (6/25) will be headlined by The Electrocutions, a band that we’ve never seen and appear to be un-Google-able. If you know anything about these guys, drop a line in the comments. Joining the mysterious Electrocutions are Meow vs. Meow, who we found to be completely beguiling and great when we stumbled upon them opening up a show at DC9 a few months ago, along with all-girl alt-rockers noon:30.

The folks behind Fort Reno tells us the full line-up should be posted online later today if all goes according to plan, so keep checking fortreno.com, the Facebook group and of course, DCist, for more updates.

And one more thing: while there are several amazing shots of Fort Reno in our DCist Flickr pool, you’re probably all tired of us recycling the same three or four photos every time we broach this topic. So photographers, get out to the park this summer and give us some new material!
