>> Laura Izibor has been getting a lot of positive press lately as the next R&B sensation due to her single, “From My Heart to Yours.” The Dublin-born singer will be celebrating the release of her debut album, Let the Truth Be Told, in D.C. with two shows. At 6 p.m., she’ll be at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage for free and at The Scene at 9 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) for $10 in advance.
>> Singer Hal Linton will perform as a part of “R&B Live” at Posh. He’ll be joined by Baltimore vocalist Paula Campbell. Free with $20 drink minimum, 8 p.m.
Wednesday:
>> D.C.-based singer/producer Kev.O will be performing two shows at Bohemian Caverns. $10, 8 and 10 p.m.
Thursday:
>> Local band House of Soul specializes in playing house music the way you might hear a DJ spin dance records. They’ll be at Bossa along with DJ V:shal Kanwar. Free, 10 p.m.
Friday:
>> Crooners Musiq Soulchild and Anthony Hamilton will be performing at Constitution Hall for two nights. Joining them will be Chrisette Michele. $70, 7 p.m.
>> Baltimore’s Carolyn Malachi switches between jazz vocalist to emcee rather effortlessly, sometimes in the same song. She’ll be at Bloom Bars in support of her new release, Revenge of the Smart Chicks II: Ambitious Gods. Free, 8 p.m.
Saturday:
>> Folks familiar with the NYC house music scene know DJ Mr. V (pictured). He’s added his semi-rapping style to numerous records by the Masters at Work and his own productions. He’ll be at the Trinidad and Tobago Association (5123 Georgia Avenue) with Chris Burns and the Columbia Heights Allstars. $5 before 11 p.m./$10 after 11 p.m.
