Yeah, getting around town on two wheels sure can be great. But if you’re anything like me, if something goes wrong, you’re at a total loss. Just looking at the maze of spokes and gears without some kind of help is enough to drive most normal folks to the brink of insanity.

But not to fear! Tomorrow, a cadre of local bicycle enthusiasts will be gathering at the Bloomingdale Farmers Market to help you navigate those tricky mechanical issues with a free repair clinic designed for the less mechanically-inclined among us. The clinic will run from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and will feature “DC Bike Ambassador” Ben West of WABA and others who will bring tools and pass on some of that sweet technical knowledge:

Air, Oil, Advice – get consultation on advanced repairs. After this week the clinic will be run entirely by your neighbors with their own tools and patches and time, there is no official sponsorship or non-profit organization or nothing. Its success will be due to your enthusiasm and participation, so come by, show off your bike, chat with other bike lovers, watch the work on other bikes and ask questions, entertain the grommets underfoot, see if there’s anything you can pitch in to do while waiting!

The farmers market runs from 10 to 2, and is located next door to Big Bear Cafe at the intersection of 1st and R Streets, NW. Take a ride, buy some fresh veggies and learn how to fix your bike — sounds like a perfect Sunday.
