On July 12, Cyrus Katzen passed away at the age of 91. He was a major benefactor for many D.C. institutions, not the least of which was American University’s Katzen Art Center. Pay tribute to this arts patron by checking out the ongoing exhibits at his eponymous gallery; on Saturday you can hear amazing local sculptor Margaret Boozer talk about her installations of unfired local clays in Dirt Drawings. 2 p.m.

>> Head to Flashpoint tonight for the opening of M3: MCs, Mics and Metaphors. A group of artists from around the country were asked to create art based on the theme of their favorite MC or hip-hop song. Tonight join host Asheru and Deejay Munch for the reception, 6 to 8 p.m.

>> Over at Honfleur Gallery, get a little Summer Jamboree action with live music at the closing reception of their two exhibits, Timelines and Reincorporation Jamboree. The nine-piece band The Bellevederes will play some “Baltimore boogaloo” from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday.
