MUSIC: While best known as a member of the New Pornographers, Dan Bejar will take the lead tonight with his thorny, cerebral indie rock outfit Destroyer. The second act features another giant of the indie rock world: Iran, whose lineup includes TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone. At the Black Cat , 8 p.m., $13. UPDATE 4:50 p.m.: Maegan over at the Black Cat tells us that Iran showed up at the venue a little while ago, sans Kyp Malone. So don’t be too disappointed that he’s not part of the show tonight – the Cat says they had no warning that he wouldn’t be there.

LECTURE: The Busboys and Poets at 5th and K at 6 p.m. hosts a panel discussion titled, What does the Honduran Coup mean for Latin America?. Panelists will include representatives from the Honduran Embassy, Sergio Moncada from Hondurans for Democracy, Mark Weisbrod from the Center for Economic and Policy Research, and Medea Benjamin, co-founder of CODEPINK. 6 p.m.

MOVIE: In the Loop, the Sundance Film Festival hit that is already drawing comparisons to some of the great absurdist political comedies like Wag the Dog and Dr. Strangelove, is playing at both the E Street and Bethesda Row Cinemas. A spinoff of BBC political comedy series The Thick of It, the film imagines a world in which the U.S. and the U.K. are conspiring to develop an excuse for a new war in the Middle East.

FOOD: If you head to Bethesda tonight to see In the Loop, or bike up there via the Capital Crescent Trail, consider trying out another contestant in your quest for the best burger in the D.C area: BGR: The Burger Joint. Owner Mark Berger recently took home a top award from the First Feedbag Burger Summit, a competition that is part of the prestigious Summit Food and Wine Festival in Summit, N.J., While there, try the Greek burger or bacon cheeseburger with mojo sauce.

HAPPY HOUR: Celebrate Peru’s 188th year of independence from Spain tonight from 6-10 p.m. at Poste Brasserie’s courtyard, (555 8th Street). The $5 admission goes to support Coprodeli, a Peruvian charity that aids families in job training, education, and community support. Tonight’s celebration offers $5 pisco sours, a liqueur made from fermented grapes, syrup, bitters, egg white, and either lemon or lime juice.
