August is notoriously the slowest month on the D.C. theater scene, and this year isn’t an exception. But there’s still a little Shakespeare, a little Mae West — even a little bit of zombies to get you through the month.
August’s highlight is the annual Free For All production by Shakespeare Theater, which this year has been moved inside, at the Harman Center. It’s Taming of the Shrew, which we really enjoyed. (Aug. 27)
On the zombie front, there’s the Shakespearean-themed Living Dead in Denmark, which closes Rorschach’s condensed season (Aug. 2).
If you want a little Broadway injection, you’ve got a couple options — Wolf Trap hosts Broadway Rocks! (Aug. 1) and MetroStage brings back The Musical of Musicals: The Musical (Aug. 27).
