Evidence of the mako, lemon, tiger, sand tiger, and hammerhead sharks that once perhaps patrolled the Chesapeake has me thankful for harpoons and oceanic bleaching. One find, though, stretches credulity: ray teeth? Rays have teeth? Don’t they use some kind of bone mesh coffee filter–looking thing in their mouths to eat dot-sized fish-bacteria? Provisionally upgrading threat status of rays while I look into this.
