Everyone knows that the Townhouse Tavern is nice little spot to enjoy cheap drinks and play videoscreen touchy porn. Saddle up to the bar, order a shot and a beer, and find the subtle differences between paired images of nekkid men and women. Counting nipple tassels may not be the most distinguished way to spend an evening, but it’s far from the least reputable way to spend a night at the Townhouse Tavs.

But did you know that the Tavs is also a place where romance blooms? A place where marriages are cemented? Or even more surprising: Did you know you can play word puzzles on the touchy porn thing?

According to a press release sent to DCist this week, D.C. resident Sarah Grossman is an enthusiast of this particular touchy porn-purveying Megatouch machine. I swear I was there like three months ago and don’t recall there being a game called Word Dojo on there, but Grossman is reportedly a big fan of that game. And her beau, Patrick Leonard, has forever changed my association with the game by using it to propose to Grossman.

It would have been cooler if Leonard had spelled out his proposal with the top three high-score names, but he gets points for innovation. Our aspiring groom actually called Megatouch and asked them to reprogram a videoscreen game for the bar. And Megatouch did!

After that, it was only a matter of Leonard asking Grossman (plus an associate from Megatouch) to meet at the Tavs on Sunday to play a little touchy porn touchy words (while the person from Megatouch filmed it all on a BlackBerry). Just like the three of them might on any evening! Totally not canned at all!

In all seriousness, Grossman looks surprised and elated. If this proposal is any indication, their marriage will be laid back and filled with happy surprises. Way to class the joint up, y’all!
