An adult male was shot this afternoon near the intersection of 16th Street and Spring Road NW.

D.C. Police say the man was shot in the back, and made his way on foot to 14th Street and Park Road NW before finding help at around 3:40 p.m. – an exact time of the shooting itself has not yet been determined.

The victim’s identity was not yet available, but police say he was transported to Washington Hospital Center in serious but stable condition.

DDOT reports that 14th Street in the vicinity of Park Road has been closed due to the ongoing police investigation.

UPDATE: Police are now placing the time of the shooting at approximately 3:30 p.m. Inspector Jacob Kishter says the victim got from 16th and Spring to 14th and Park not on foot, but instead with the assistance of another man who was driving him to the hospital when they stopped to flag down an MPD officer.
