Metro has its latest weekend track maintenance update ready for those of you busily planning your Saturday and Sunday travels. WMATA is advising that customers on the Red, Orange and Green Lines should all add an additional 30 minutes to their travel times due to expected delays.

Red Line: Tunnel repairs and rail work between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Friendship Heights will force trains to share one track between those two stations from 10 p.m., Friday, August 28, to closing (midnight), on Sunday, August 30.

On Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., every other Red Line train traveling in the direction of Shady Grove will terminate at Friendship Heights and return to Glenmont. Throughout the weekend, all Red Line trains will operate only every 20 minutes between Shady Grove and Medical Center.

Orange Line: Crosstie replacement work between East Falls Church and Ballston-MU will cause trains to share the same track between those stations from 10 p.m., Friday, August 28, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, August 30.

Green Line: Rail replacement work between Georgia Ave-Petworth and Fort Totten will cause delays as trains share one track in the area from 8 p.m., Friday, August 28, to 6 p.m., on Sunday, August 30.

This work also means that all Yellow Line trains will operate only between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Sq-7th St Convention Center all weekend. No off-peak Yellow Line service to Ft. Totten will mean slow going on the Green Line starting Friday night.
