LECTURE: The National Archives hosts a panel discussion tonight featuring ABC News political commentator Cokie Roberts; Michael Beschloss, author of Presidential Courage: Brave Leaders and How They Changed America, 1789-1989; Drew Faust, president of Harvard University and author of This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War ; and David Grubin, filmmaker and biographer for the PBS American Experience series. The panelists will discuss their favorite discoveries in the National Archives and explain why records matter. 7 p.m., free.

THEATER: As part of the League of Washington Theatres’ Theatre Week, the Atlas Performing Arts Center is hosting the African Continuum Theatre Company for a free play reading of The Montfort Point Marine at 8 p.m. The play is about the life of Robert Wilson, a former Montford Point Marine (the first Black American Marines, 1942-1949), who fought at Iwo Jima.
