D.C. police say they are investigating a daytime shooting in the 1200 block of H Street NE. An adult female was shot at about 12:54 p.m. at 1275 H Street NE.

D.C. Fire/EMS spokesperson Pete Piringer said the woman suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, and was transported to Washington Hospital Center. The victim is said to be in serious condition with non life-threatening wounds.

No details were immediately available from MPD on a suspect, though police have been in the area conducting a search.

UPDATE: The WaPo is now reporting that police are looking for an armed suspect in a wheelchair who “rolled away before patrol cars arrived.”
