>> Brooklyn-based, Grammy Award-winning vocalist Maya Azucena is a routine visitor to D.C. and will be back in town for two shows at Blues Alley. $35+$2.50 per person, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Thursday:
>> After a hiatus, “Uncle Q’s Living Room” has returned as a weekly event at Bourbon. The sound selectors will be DJ Dredd, Harry Hotter and Uncle Q, and the music will range from ’70s soul to Golden Era hip-hop to early 2000s R&B. $TBA, 8 p.m.

Friday:
>> D.C. band the Cornel West Theory has a new album on the way and a show at Liv. As an added bonus, they’ll be appearing at the performance with their namesake, Princeton prof. Cornel West. $10 in advance, 7 p.m.

>> Baltimore’s Maimouna Youssef gained wide-spread noteriety for lending her vocals to The Roots’ Game Theory album but has her own career. She’ll be appearing at Ebenezers Coffeehouse as a part of the “Capitol Soul” show. $15 in advance, 7 p.m.

>> West Coast rhymer Nipsey Hu$$le will be at Ned Devines Irish Village in Sterling. $TBA, 9 p.m.

>> The final Friday of the month means it’s “Black Light Special” night at Selam (1524 U Street NW). Afrobeat will be the prominent genre and DJ Underdog will be bringing the tunes strictly on vinyl. $1, 10 p.m.
