MUSIC: Way too many intriguing rock shows to choose from tonight. First on our list is Brooklyn’s rising stars The Antlers at DC9. Holly Miranda and Shapiro also play. $8 advance/$10 at the door, 9 p.m.
There’s also The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and The Depreciation Guild at the Black Cat, along with Cymbals Eat Guitars. Tough to choose between these first two options, really. $13, 8 p.m.
Those looking for a nostalgia fix might prefer to catch Sunny Day Real Estate at the 9:30 Club. The show’s sold-out, but there’s a brisk trade for tickets on Craigslist. 8 p.m.
LECTURE: Dr. Ruth E. Iskin, author of Modern Women and Parisian Consumer Culture, will speak at the The Katzen Arts Center at American Universityfor free at 8 p.m. to discuss “whether impressionist painting represented the ‘New Woman’ and how the latter’s images functioned in diverse genres of visual culture, from caricatures to posters and photographs.”
MUSEUMS: It’s the last Wednesday of the month, which means it’s a free admission night at the International Spy Museum until 9 p.m.
