“All parties involved are satisfied with today’s settlement agreement, and look forward to working together to ensure that District residents and children receive high quality public recreation services,” reads the statement.
The group’s sudden eviction from the recreation center earlier this summer became a political mess for Fenty, as high profile national figures like Venus and Serena Williams, civil rights icon Dorothy Height and poet Maya Angelou all came forward to try to plead the Wish List Committee’s case with the city – that Fenty reportedly blew off Height and Angelou angered many residents even further.
The city claimed they were evicting the group because it had allowed its charter as a registered corporation to lapse.
Barry is the estranged wife of former mayor and Ward 8 Council member Marion Barry.
