SPORTS: The U.S. Men’s National Team confronts Costa Rica tonight at RFK, in a World Cup Qualifying match. The weather for tonight’s game looks to be pretty bad, but it should also be an emotional match, with forward Charlie Davies out due to his terrible car accident early Tuesday morning. Fans attending tonight’s game are being asked to stand and cheer for the entire 9th minute tonight in honor of #9 Davies. You can also print out a #9 to hold up during the tribute.

MUSIC: Former Mazzy Star singer Hope Sandoval and her partner, Colm Ó Cíosóig (of My Bloody Valentine), perform songs from their new album, Through the Devil Softly tonight at Sixth and I. Dirt Blue Gene opens. 8 p.m., $25.

FOOD & DRINK: Room 11 bartender Dan Searing will lead a demonstration on how to make the perfect Tom Collins tonight. The class is sponsored by Bombay Sapphire, so look for free tastings, too. 6 – 8 p.m.

MOVIE: In collaboration with the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the Avalon Theatre is screening Tobruck at 8 p.m. Updated from Stephen Crane’s classic novel, The Red Badge of Courage, Tobruk is set in North Africa during WWII, and exposes the romanticized idea of heroism in war when confronted with complicated relationships, the constant threat of death, and the loss of self respect.

JAZZ: Check out Fra Fra Sound, a group that started in Amsterdam 30 years ago and has since incorporated influences from the Caribbean. They’re at Blues Alley tonight for 8 and 10 p.m sets. Tickets are $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
