Good morning, Washington, and welcome back to a world that features sunshine. Here’s the two quotes from this past weekend that we’re still mulling over on Monday: “I believe you have too much on your plate. Let’s take some responsibility off you,” and “He may be nutty, but he’s not a professor.” Couldn’t you swap those around and apply one just as easily to the other?

Prince George’s Police Keep Shooting People: Prince George’s County police officers shot people in three different incidents over the course of the weekend, making us wonder whether College Park is a lot scarier than we ever gave it credit for. The latest was a man who was fatally shot Sunday after allegedly attempting to rob a 7-11 and then coming out of the store wielding two knives. The other two officer-involved shootings went down on Friday night. Police first shot a man who allegedly came at them with an automatic rifle after he had tried to rob an armored truck, and then there were the two crossdressing men who allegedly dragged an officer with a car. All three of those shooting victims are expected to survive.

Gallaudet Gets New President: Gallaudet University has officially appointed T. Alan Hurwitz, formerly of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, as the new president of the nation’s premiere university for the deaf and hard of hearing, the Post reports. After involving students and faculty in the selection process, the school does not expect any protests of the 2006 variety due to Hurwitz’s appointment.

Briefly Noted: VRE switches from Amtrak to French-owned train operator … Prince George’s County section of the Beltway is by far the deadliest … D.C. firefighters have no water pressure trouble with recent Chain Bridge Rd. blaze … Northeast man found fatally stabbed early Saturday.

This Day in DCist: Last year, we interviewed local arts scene leader Jeffrey Cudlin, and the year before that, we interviewed Paul Meany of Mutemath.
