ART: Head over to Art Klash at L’Enfant Moderne Gallery tonight for a “live art battle.” Four artists will be given a theme at the start of the battle, and two local judges will declare a winner. MUSIC: Hard rocking Welsh band Future Of The Left is at the Rock and Roll Hotel tonight, along with Brooklyn collective Uninhabitable Mansions, which features members of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Au Revoir Simone, and Dirty on Purpose. Drink Up Buttercup opens. $12 adv/$14 door, 8 p.m.

Get in a seasonally appropriately dark, gloomy mood tonight with The Black Heart Procession, who are at the Black Cat tonight with Bellini and The Mumlers opening. $15, 8 p.m.

Or head to Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar (1104 H Street NE) for Adrian Loving and DJ Stylus, as they host a pre-Halloween party, “A Funky Space Halloween.” Space funk-themed costumes are highly encouraged. Free, 9 p.m.

MOVIE: The Freer Gallery is screening films from artist and filmmaker Sun Xun, whose videos are currently on view in Moving Perspectives at the Sackler Gallery. A graduate in printmaking at the Hangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Xun films drawings of items such as clocks, words, magicians, insects, and industrial landscapes, to create densely layered images that evoke China’s turbulent past. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Carol Huh, curator for contemporary Asian art at the Freer and Sackler Galleries. Free, starting at 7 p.m., doors open at 6:30.
