Even Shadow Senator Paul Strauss had a car in the parade. And a classic one, to boot.

A pair of large police and emergency responses to report going on downtown today.

The first is a suspicious package investigation in the mailroom of a World Bank building. Around noon, D.C. Fire/EMS responded to a call of a package delivered to the World Bank, located at 1818 H Street NW, that contained an unusual or suspicious substance, according to spokesperson Pete Piringer. There have been no reports of illnesses, but the building was partially evacuated while crews worked to identify the substance.

The second is a bomb threat investigation at the building that houses the Washington Passport Agency, located at 1111 19th Street NW. MPD responded to the threat at around 1:15 p.m. and are currently on the scene there. They’ve blocked off the area to pedestrian traffic while the building is searched. We’ll update when we have more.
