>> “Tip the Band 7” is out to give local indie artists a little shine and some payment. On tap for tonight’s show at Almaz will be Godisheus and Violet Says 5. Free (but tip the bands), 8:30 p.m.

>> “Cakes & Kisses” is back with its hip-hop open mic featuring The Five One, Green Tea, Madam Madon, Laelo Hood and DJ Jav. Asylum plays host and free cake and Hershey’s kisses will be available. Free, 9 p.m.

Friday:
>> D.C.-based duo Fly Gypsy takes their hip-hop/live music set to Liv. They’ll be performing tracks from their soon-to-be released album, Change For A Dollar. $10, 8 p.m.
