Thanksgiving is the most dangerous time of the year to be a driver. The holiday weekend often ends with some sad stories to underscore the gratitude that many feel at the start of the holiday season. NBC Washington reports the tragic death of local high school football star Steven Joseph Dankos, who died in a drunk-driving accident. Dankos, a 17-year-old student at River Hill High School in Clarksville, Maryland, was riding in a truck with another underage passenger when the 22-year-old driver — who was later found to be intoxicated — lost control of the vehicle, striking ornamental pillars and flipping over. The holidays are marked by celebrations that frequently feature liquor, but it is the great number of drivers on the road at all hours that so greatly increases the incidence of drunk-driving accidents.
