Let us be thankful that today’s Metro Mishap was not as severe as the many that the city has endured in a difficult year for public transportation. ABC 7 reports that three Metro workers were injured in a collision between a six-car Metro train and a parked six-car train at the West Falls Church Rail Yard. The accident happened well after hours, so no passengers were on hand to sustain injuries or throw themselves under the train — another frequent problem for WMATA.

The report says the Metro driver has been driving for 1 year and has been an employee since 2007. An investigation is bound to follow, especially given that one of the trains was totaled.
