MOVIE: Lots of free or inexpensive movie options tonight. The Arlington Cinema ‘N’ Drafthouse has two featured dollar movies tonight, Julie and Julia at 7:15 (doors 6:30 p.m.), and The Hangover at 9:50 p.m.

The Library of Congress is screening Lady Sings the Blues, featuring Diana Ross’s stunning turn as jazz great Billie Holiday. The free film starts at 7 p.m., no reservation is required, but you should call (202) 707-5677 before 5 p.m. to reserve your spot. Part of the Motown in the Fall at the Nation’s Library series at the Mary Pickford Theater.

And Cafe Saint Ex is showing two old horror flicks in their Gate 54 lounge starting at 10 p.m.: Them and Re-Animator. Free (plus free popcorn!).

MUSIC: Both the Pixies and Imogen Heap are sold-out tonight, but consider heading over to DC9 to catch jokey ’80s dance pop group Gil Mantera’s Party Dream, plus D.C.’s own synth purveyors, Loderunner, in the opening slot. Sure to at least put you in a silly/happy mood. Show at 9 p.m., $10.
