MOVIE: Ed. Note: We mistakenly listed this event on Monday, but it actually happening tonight. Head to the American Art Museum for a free screening of Soul of a People at 7 p.m. The film is about the The Federal Writers’ Project, a New Deal program that employed thousands of out-of work journalists, novelists, poets, and ordinary citizens. David Taylor, co-producer and author of the accompanying book, will be on hand to sign the book, along with Andrea Kalin, director and co-producer of the film.

MUSIC: Brendan Benson is at the 9:30 Club promoting his solo album, My Old, Familiar Friend. He’s joined by Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons, $15, 7 p.m.

TALK: At the Corcoran, Project Runway star Nick Verreos will discuss his clothing line, NIKOLAKI, along with a special screening of footage from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising’s “Debut 2009” fashion show. A reception follows. 8 p.m., $20.

ART: FINUS/88, a week-long media arts symposium going on at the The Embassy of Finland, continues tonight with a free panel discussion in coordination with the Pink Line Project. Tonight’s discussion is on electronic media and its relation to marketing, performance and technology. 7-10 p.m.
