ART: Sneak a preview of our venue for the 2010 DCist Exposed Photography Show tonight at the Long View Gallery. ReadysetDC, which launched its official version of their web site today, is throwing a celebration with For the Love of DC. You’ll be able to enjoy a whole line-up of DJs, plus a surprise band; photography by four artists, including former Exposed winner Tracy Clayton and an art installation by No Kings Collective. Free but RSVP requestedby 5 p.m. Event is 7 p.m. to midnight.
JAZZ: Local vocalist Changamiré, whose sound straddles the line between jazz and R&B, will be performing at Bohemian Caverns. 8 p.m. $15.
MUSIC: Brother-sister combo and critic’s delight A Sunny Day in Glasgow are at the Red and the Black with rockers The Young Republic and The Torches, $8, 8:30 p.m.
The Whigs (check out our interview) head to the Black Cat tonight, with openers The Features and Mean Creek, $13, 8 p.m.
LOOK UP: The National Air and Space Museum’s Public Observatory has extended hours tonight until 7 p.m.; it’s your chance to see Jupiter, the Moon, and whatever else you can find. Other events going on tonight include a screening of a free short IMAX film, Blue Planet, along with a free lecture given by Dr. Sara Seager at 7:30 p.m., who will discuss “Astrobiology and the Search for Life Beyond Earth“; get free overflow tickets here.
MOVIE: Tonight is the opening of the Capital Irish Film Festival, which runs through Dec. 20. Tonight’s film is The Eclipse, screening at E Street Cinema at 8 p.m. A winner at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival, the film tells the story of “a widower in a seaside Irish town who sparks with a visiting horror novelist while he also begins to believe he is seeing ghosts.” Tickets are $10.
