On the eve of last night’s Top Chef season finale, Bryan Voltaggio told DCist to look out for plans for a collaborative project with his brother Michael. Just hours before the show’s airing, which featured the brothers as two of the three finalists, Bryan told Washington Post food chatters that while no new restaurants are in the works, fans could check out a new web site, www.voltaggiobrothers.com, to see what was in the pipeline.
The interactive site launched last night as the finale aired. What they and their consultants have come up with is a web site for Bryan and Michael to post daily about “ingredients, recipes, technique [and] cooking gadgets” and “share their expert cooking secrets.” It’s also intended as an interactive community for food lovers.
This seems like it could be a perfect way for the two to collaborate on a cookbook. It would open the door for discussion similar to the Alinea Mosaic website, which focuses on the complex molecular gastronomy recipes from the Chicago-based restaurant. But for now, the site features a blog and Jurassic-era forum page with subfolders for topics such as “Ingredients/Exotic” and “Ingredients/Everyday,” folders for members to “get to know each other and help build the community,” and plenty of space for Frazier Lara to ask Michael, “Are you still working at the Lagham hotel in Pasadena???”
