Last week, we re-tweeted a message from why.i.hate.dc/District Daily‘s Dave Stroup noting that the Q Street entrance to the Dupont Circle Metro station actually had two working escalators for the first time in weeks (months?). It was exciting news for regular commuters who have been forced to hoof it down (or worse, up) to the cavernous station for some time. The only question is, how long might it last?

We checked in with WMATA about it, and spokesperson Ron Holzer had this to say: “Barring any further accidents on the entrance units on the north side of Dupont Circle, we expect to have two units running at all times. The middle unit is currently under repair and is scheduled to be completed before Christmas. The normally up running unit also has scheduled repair work, but we will not be performing this work over the holidays. It will probably be taken out of service the first week of January for 10-15 days.”

Happy escalating!
