Lissy Trullie, @ DC9 on Wednesday MONDAY
>> Reggae/Dub god Lee “Scratch” Perry rolls through town again. Even though the man has a few lackluster gaffs and colabs, he’s still got enough amazing cuts under his belt to crank a nice set. And depending on the crowd’s mental state, perhaps he could just get away with looping “In These Times” over and over. 9:30 Club, $25, 7 p.m. doors.
>> If “Scratch” isn’t your thing, there’s Holly Golightly and the Broke-Offs at Iota. Holly brings her soulful throwback blues rock sound all the way from the UK. Vandaveer kick things off with their shuffling folky ballads. Should be a good one. Iota, 8:30 p.m., $12.
TUESDAY
>> Raekwon (The Chef) is easily my favorite Wu solo artist. Not a sellout. Not trying to become the next rapper/crossover hyphenate. He simply does his Cuban Linx thing and does it well. Pitchfork loved his most recent effort. He’ll be at the 9:30 Club with Capone and Noreaga, Queen YoNasDa, and locals Likeblood. $25, 7 p.m. doors.
WEDNESDAY
>> Born in D.C. and transplanted to New York, former-model-turned-rocker Lissy Trullie rolls through town. Her music is straight forward powerchord rock. Check out the tracks “Self Taught Learner” and “Boy Boy.” With openers Mike Bones and Xylos. DC9, 8:30 doors, $10.
>> “He’s that smokey figure, and we don’t have a lot of them anymore, that Jack Kerouac, Jake LaMotta type…,” said Shia LeBeouf when the actor was asked why he wanted to work with CAGE on his video for the song, “I Never Knew You.” Really? Regardless, it sounded cool at the time. CAGE marries the spoken-word delivery of Tricky with plodding, ominous electronic instrumentation. It’s a bit like The Streets without Mike Skinner’s thick accent and clever slang. The Axxis, a new project from Pras of The Fugees, and Educated Consumers open. Rock and Roll Hotel, $12, doors at 8 p.m.
>> Judy Collins brings her orchestral versions of folk and pop standards to the Birchmere. The show is sold out and there are mostly “tickets wanted” posts on Craigslist, so good luck. 7:30 p.m.
