  • Breaking from the Examiner: the Metropolitan Police Department arrested one of its own officers on felony murder charges today. D.C. Police Officer Reggie Jones, a six-year veteran, stands accused as a conspirator in a drug robbery that resulted in the Dec. 1 shooting death of 40-year-old Arvell Alston.
  • DCmud says that the massive expansion for David von Storch’s planned Vida Fitness at 1612 U Street has been approved, meaning the current tenants, rival Results Gym, will have to be out of there soon.
  • The District has settled one of two lawsuits associated with the 2002 Pershing Park arrests, Jason Cherkis reports over at City Desk. The settlement includes a payout of $8.25 million to the roughly 400 plaintiffs in the case, plus, even more embarrassingly, spells out new standards that D.C. Police and the Office of the Attorney General must now adhere to when handling evidence and discovery.
