Dish of the Week: Crêpes to go

Where: Crêpes on the Walk, Crêpes a Go Go, Crêpe Away

Crêpes are one of those perfect foods that provide a blank canvas for all sorts of different flavors and textures. From the classic lemon juice and sugar to ham, egg, and melted Swiss cheese, there’s a filling to please every palate. Both the sweet and savory fillings have their merits, but I personally fall into the sweet camp. I appreciate that savory crêpes can be a meal unto themselves, but sweet crêpes are the perfect excuse to eat fruit slathered in Nutella. (And really, who doesn’t want another excuse to eat Nutella?)

Moreover, there is something decidedly European about eating crêpes as a street food rather than a sit-down meal. Folded into a triangle and wrapped in foil, they make a delightful and mess-free snack on the go. While crêpes can be enjoyed any time of year, for an extra festive option, head over to the Downtown Holiday Market and do your shopping while munching on a steaming hot crepe. There is a crêperie in the market, or hit up the newly opened Crêpes on the Walk in Gallery Place. The menu features nearly 30 different flavors, or you can build your own for endless possibilities.
