Good morning, D.C. and welcome to the slow week between Christmas and New Year’s, where the only thing you have to do is make sure you have plans for New Year’s Eve. Since you’re likely going to be stuck at your desk with little to do, be sure to check back with DCist regularly for news updates and cool features to make your work day a little more fun.

Redskins Lose to Cowboys: Just when you think things can’t get any worse, with their 17-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last night, the Redskins will finish win-less against NFC rivals for the first time since 1994. The Washington Post has a recap of what went wrong. Is this season over yet?

Update on Red Line Accident: The man struck by a train yesterday at Gallery Place is in critical condition at an area hospital. A WMATA press release says that initial investigations indicate the 48-year-old Rockville man “was standing at the edge of the platform and accidentally tumbled onto the tracks as the train pulled into the station.”

Briefly Noted: Fires displace 24 families in PG County, a man was found shot to death in a car over the weekend in Southeast, a pedestrian was struck by a car and killed last night in Columbia Heights, and someone stole a small plane in Frederick, Md. and subsequently crashed it.

This Day in DCist: In 2008, a Maryland man channeled his inner action hero and in 2007 we looked at some D.C. focused books.
