Our last arts agenda was right before Snowpocalypse ’09 and, as a result, a few of those events were postponed. Irvine Contemporary’s opening reception for two exhibits, by artists Kerry Skarbakka and Sebastian Martorana, will now happen this Saturday from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with an artists talk at 6:30 p.m. and a screening of a video by Skarbakka at 7:30 p.m. Gallery Neptune’s DRINK + DRAW event was also moved to this Saturday, 7 p.m.

>> The Gallery at Flashpoint opens Inside Mouth by Jackie Milad on Saturday. Described as “part art, part anthropology,” the exhibit features Milad’s drawings of various, subtle facial expressions, along with a photo collection of people trying to imitate them. See it all at the opening 6 to 8 p.m.

>> The first Thursday of the month means the Phillips Collection will host Phillips After 5. Join them for a preview of Round House Theatre’s upcoming play, Permanent Collection, about a museum director engaged in a racially charged battle over the display of African sculptures (6:30 p.m.). A discussion follows the program, then, appropriately enough, wander around Man Ray, African Arts and the Modernist Lens, which closes this Sunday.

>> The Washington Sculptors Group has an opening at Pepco’s Edison Place Gallery this Friday featuring their annual juried member exhibit. See works by 16 local sculptors, including Erwin Timmers, and stick around for the awards presentation. 6 to 8 p.m.

>> Check out some Harajuku street style at the Textile Museum this Sunday, when you can take in an afternoon tutorial, a Harajuku fashion show, and the museum’s ongoing exhibit, Contemporary Japanese Fashion: The Mary Baskett Collection. 2 to 4 p.m., $20 for non-members.

>> Studio H opens Azul, featuring the manipulated photographs of D.C. artist Geoff Ault. Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m.

>> While not technically First Friday, last week we were a little busy nursing our hangovers, so take this Friday instead to visit the Dupont galleries. Studio Gallery features an exhibit of nature-based art, while on the other side of the circle, Foundry Gallery will show abstract paintings by Doris Colbert Kennedy. Most Dupont openings are 6 to 8 p.m.
