At least, that is if your only source of such information is signage, videos, and so forth at the Verizon Center during Wizards games. Reports from those in the small crowd in attendance at last night’s 104-97 victory over the Orlando Magic indicated that the Phone Booth had been quite efficiently wiped clean of Gilbert Arenas’ presence — Arenas was removed from the pre-game hype video, his jersey was no longer for sale in the team store, and the Wizards mascot now features a star on the back his jersey, instead of Arenas’ number zero. Now comes the official word that Adidas is “evaluating” their sponsorship deal with the troubled guard, a predictable move in the post-Tiger endorsement world. But hey, on the bright side, the Arenas story likely indicates the beginning of a new golden age for those who ply in t-shirt parody.
