Heeb Magazine for the fourth year in a row put together their Heeb 100 list, which debuted in the fall. It’s the top 100 young Jews to keep an eye out for (according to the magazine, anyway), and five Washingtonians are on the list. A new portrait exhibition of those up-and-comers will debut in D.C. tonight at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue, with a reception from 7-9 p.m. featuring some of the honorees. Plus free knishes & ruggelach!

Washington Post rising star and friend o’ DCist Ezra Klein, who does health care, economic, political, and food blogging for the newspaper is an easy choice for the list. Good Stuff Eatery proprietor and former Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn finds a spot as well after having taken the stage to teach innovative latke and matzo recipes to the crowd at 6th and I.

The other three D.C. names may not be as recognizable. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they all fall into the activist category. There’s Lauree Hayden, Director of Political Capacity at the Service Employees International Union. Her portrait has her hiding behind a pile of books with the Obama “Hope” picture posted in the background. Rebecca Shaloff reviews and endorses businesses following green practices for non-profit Green America. And producer/photographer Joshua Cogan made it for his work documenting the stories of people living through hardship with Bluecadet.
