Thieves broke in through a window at local non-profit Art Enables on Tuesday night. Image courtesy Art Enables.Staff at Art Enables, a local non-profit that supports artists with developmental and/or mental disabilities, arrived to find a smashed window and the majority of their office equipment stolen this morning. Thieves appear to have entered through a small window in the studio, taking several computers, a camera, an external hard drive and equipment used to connect to the internet, then left through the front door.
Since the equipment that was stolen is vital to the day-to-day operations of Art Enables, staff are looking to replace these necessities as soon as possible, as well as adding extra security. “We have a small budget, but we are now looking into web cams for security purposes,” said operations manager Stephanie Bonifant.
While police work to track down any leads, Bonifant speculated that some recent visitors to the studio who were noticeably uninterested in the art they had for sale could have been responsible.
Beyond the clean-up, repairing the broken window, filing a police report and taking inventory, Bonifant said things are slowly getting back to normal for the arts non-profit. To help Art Enables recoup the cost of replacing its stolen equipment, you can make a donation directly to the organization online.
