MUSIC: The Mansion at Strathmore is kicking off its new concert series, “Friday Night Electric,” tonight with local favorites Exit Clov and True Womanhood. An intriguing venue for rockin’ out, it should be worth the trip. Doors open at 8 p.m. for a happy hour featuring $2 PBRs, show is at 9 p.m., tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. The show also marks a CD release weekend celebration for Exit Clov; the band will also be at Iota on Saturday, with Olivia Mancini.
FOOD & DRINK: Alliance Française is hosting a rum tasting by Guillaume Lamy tonight, who will be pouring a collection of rare Plantation rums. Tickets are $40, or $30 for members. Call 202-234-7911 to reserve a spot.
JAZZ: It’s been a while since we profiled Leonard Brown & Joyful Noise, a group led by the father of Bohemian Caverns owner Omrao Brown. The elder Brown, who is a professor of music at Northeastern University, will be playing the club on Friday and Saturday. Tickets to the 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets are $15.
DJ: Dahlak in Adams Morgan brings back the “Kids in America” party tonight, featuring New Wave tunes from The Psychedelic Furs to Tears for Fears. No cover, 10 p.m.
