The Caps’ winning streak is getting ridiculous. They’ve won nine straight (something the Redskins haven’t done since 1991), and their most recent win — 4-1 Friday against the Florida Panthers — came against the goalie with the second best save percentage in the NHL.

“I think every team wants to be the team that comes in and beats us,” Brian Pothier said after last night’s win. “Almost every team we play is playing their best game against us.”

The Caps are scoring more than anyone else in the league, Mike Green has more points than any other defenseman, and Jeff Shultz and Alex Ovechkin are leading the NHL in plus-minus.

As Ovie would say, that’s sick.

The Caps have played the gauntlet of teams in those nine victories, too — everyone from arch-rival Pittsburgh to third-worst in the league Toronto has had their shot at playing the spoiler.

“I was asked earlier, keeping a winning streak alive or breaking a losing streak, what’s harder?” Caps head coach Bruce Boudreau said. “It’s tough to keep winning. I didn’t think we had our best stuff tonight, but we won.”
