Photo by Samer FarhaMetro has unveiled its February weekend and weeknight track maintenance schedules, among them another holiday weekend closure of two Metro stations. The Rosslyn and Arlington Cemetery stations will be closed for the entire Presidents’ Day weekend, starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, through midnight on Monday, Feb. 15. The closures will allow Metro to perform a major track rehabilitation project at the Rosslyn station.
Rosslyn is a major Metrorail transfer hub, so its closure that weekend will cause significant delays on the Orange and Blue lines in both directions. The Orange Line will be split into two segments, between Vienna and Court House, and then between Foggy Bottom and New Carrollton. The Blue Line will also be split, between Franconia-Springfield and Pentagon, and between Foggy Bottom and Largo Town Center. We’d certainly recommend Virginia residents take the Yellow Line into the city if at all possible while the closures are in effect.
Other weekend maintenance projects will see continuing delays on the Red Line between Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore this coming weekend, Feb. 5-7, and delays on the Orange Line between New Carrollton and Cheverly due to welding work on the weekends of Feb. 5-7, Feb. 19-21, and Feb. 26-28.
Weeknight work on the Red Line between Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore will also continue, causing delays of up to 20 minutes after 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays throughout the month. The Blue Line will also see weeknight delays, beginning at 9:30 p.m., between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road-Seat Pleasant, all month long, as well as between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon (Orange Line) and Arlington Cemetery (Blue Line) starting at 9:30 p.m. this week and next week only.
