Givers are at the Black Cat on Tuesday MONDAY
>> The Silent League straddle a few genres. The octet craft sweeping orchestral (on synths) ballads with a hint of bubbling electronics and a dollop of syrup. It all sounds very proper and English and a bit like Snow Patrol (for lack of a better comparison). Bone Gunn open. 8:30 p.m. DC9. Tickets are $8.
TUESDAY
>> All the way from Valencia!!! It’s Josh Rouse? Rouse has acknowledged the irony of his most recent, yet-to-be-released album, El Turista [sic] which features the singer/songwriting “doing Brazilian songs in Spanish.” Rouse plays at the Birchmere. $25 at 7:30 p.m.
>> This should probably be fun and hard to mope through. The Givers, who opened for Dirty Projectors last time they rolled through town, make a brand of Afro-pop which occasionally nods to Vampire Weekend, but mostly does its own happy thing. A new local band worth checking out, Deutschmarks, (Tim George, Chris DeWitt from Pree, and Ben Usie from Frau Eva) will open. Black Cat backstage, $10, 9 p.m.
WEDNESDAY
>> Sorry, kiddies. The Delta Spirit show is SOLD OUT. 8:30 p.m. at DC9.
>> But there’s always the Southern-rock of Brooklyn’s Alberta Cross at Black Cat’s intimate little back stage. Reminiscent of The Stills or BRMC or The Black Keys or any number of others in that vein. San Antonio’s Hacienda kick things off. $10, at 9 p.m.
